Extraordinary Pressure Points

Extraordinary Pressure Points

What are Kyusho Jitsu Extraordinary Pressure Points? Before I go into some details here first let's lay the ground work in case all of this science of pressure point self defense is new to you.

First I will define what a pressure point is. A pressure point is a place on the body where a nerve comes to an end, where nerves cross over each other, and where a nerve branches off.

There are 309 standard pressure points on the human body, plus 52 more points on the "vessels" which brings the total to 361. Now this is ONLY looking at one side of body however with reference to the meridian pressure points.

These pressure points have specific characteristics that are associated to the meridian they lie upon, the element of the meridian. And the polarity of the related organ of the body. Here is a link to an article on Pressure Point Basics which will help you if you need more information!

What are Kyusho Jitsu Extraordinary Pressure Points?

These are essentially pressure points that were discovered after the mapping of the original 361. They are found in many different places on the body. These Kyusho Jitsu Extraordinary Pressure Points also have no direct relationship to any meridians or elements.

Kyusho Jitsu Extraordinary Pressure Points

Kyusho Jitsu Extraordinary Pressure Points

In this bad editing job I did here on this picture I give you Kyusho Jitsu Extraordinary Pressure Points MUE-28. The pressure point is located in very close proximity to the Heart Meridian and therefore in the case will take on the characteristics of the Heart Meridian.

When struck across the arm, with 2 way action it releases the wrist.

The use of Extraordinary Pressure Points does vary from point to point. Plus not all of them have any real application in Kyusho Jitsu. That being said I will give you a breakdown of some of the more useful ones.

And I should warn you, this is not novice material!

Please note, I am offering excerpts from my eBook The Dim Mak Project in this section of the article.

Extraordinary Pressure Points Summary

Definition of Extraordinary Pressure Points

· They have no relationship to Yin or Yang.
· Have no underlying relationship with each other.
· "Tend” to take on the characteristics of the closest meridian, but now always.
· May run over-top of another meridian
· Assist in the functions of the regular meridians
· Also help to coordinate the balance of Chi and Blood in the body, which is why they are of interest to Dim Mak and advanced Kyusho Jitsu Study.

Extraordinary Pressure Points

Extraordinary Pressure Points

Now I am not today going to go into details about the functionality of each of the Extraordinary Pressure Points. This is all very advanced information.  However understanding their existence, and their basic use is important.

Extraordinary Pressure Points have a very important function in Dim Mak because they upset the natural blood and energy balances of the body.

Keeping all of this kind of information in balance, able to reference is a difficult task. There are a lot of other very "special pressure points" each with very important and different affects on the body.

A great way to keep this kind of information in order is with the Encyclopedia of Kyusho Jitsu. This is a project coming soon to Kyusho Jitsu World!

There is so much to Learn!

It is true, there is so very much to learn when it comes to the science of pressure point self defense. The very best way to do this is to follow a system of learning, one that has proven itself over time.

We have such systems! A great place to begin is with our Kyusho Jitsu Home Study Course. There is one for Novice students and also one for Advanced Students.

Right now I am offering a HUGE discount on the course! Follow the link below and learn more about both the novice and advanced courses!

What if Pressure Points Really Work?

What if Pressure Points Really Work?

What if Pressure Points Really Work?

What if Pressure Points Really Work?

Tell me nay-sayers! What if Pressure Points Really Work? Yes I know I can here you now! "I don't need to worry about that because I am an expert on everything!"

I cannot count the number of times I have been slandered by these clowns. But, I am different, their "opinions" mean nothing to me. How is that? Because I have nothing to prove to anyone, and if they chose to believe that pressure points don't work, I don't really care.

Am I hard on the martial arts world? You are damn right I am! We are supposed to, as teachers and students be held to a higher standard! But I am not seeing much of this!

A Higher Standard!

But what does bother me, is today how the "uneducated" in the science of pressure point self defense scream the loudest, talk the most, but have ZERO education or experience in it!

And I love those who attended a seminar, got in a fight and lost! Then they blame Kyusho and not themselves.

It is funny how tenets are so often talked about in classes, yet martial arts masters seem to feel these do not apply to them? Interesting eh?

If you look at the social media accounts of these "masters" they are true "Aren't I great" sites.  Just seems like Narcissistic behavior to me.

Lose the Ego

More Knowledge the lesser the ego and the lesser the need to be right

But the sad fact is these people have either not bothered to do the study, which is fine as long as you are not trying to influence other people, or they could NOT figure it out.

They will boldly talk of how they are "right" because there is no medical evidence that "meridians" exist. Yet don't consider why that it? [there is no money in this research].

Think for yourself!

The martial arts world has long seen known for being like an "old boys club." I experienced that with my first Grand Master who wanted me to go to a party at his home, but not my wife because she was still a coloured belt then. That boat did not float!

What is the point to this rant? Many times, especially on the disease is that social media Kyusho Jitsu students are "BULLIED" by these clowns.  My message is "think for yourself" and do your own work! Because someone has been in the arts ANY particular time at all, does not translate into what they know or can apply!

Myself I ignore, delete and move on! There "opinions" and these are opinions, mean nothing to me.  Life is supposed to be a journey of learning.  If the egotist would put away their bullshit, shut up and actually "listen" for once, they might learn something. What a concept eh?

Imagine a world that this was the focus? If we would actually drop the "bull" and realize on the grand scheme of things we all know NOTHING, the world would be a better place! As an example I am very well educated in the science of pressure point however I know NOTHING of BJJ, so I don't talk about it.

Now considering Kyusho Jitsu, the science of pressure point self defense DOES WORK these people are missing a lot of great benefits because of their need to be RIGHT rather then be informed!

Savy?

New Self Defense Paradigm

New Self Defense Paradigm

New Self Defense Paradigm

New Self Defense Paradigm

I believe it is time for a New Self Defense Paradigm! As I have said on many different occasions what I see being taught as self defense is either pure trash, or antiquated and very out of touch with the world today.

Yes the student of self defense does have a "learning curse" that must be addressed. But if the system does not go beyond this, then it is a FAIL. And I speak from experience because from a self defense aspect what I learned in my root art WAS and epic fail! But not anymore!

Self Defense Paradigm #1

The first BAD Self Defense Paradigm is that somehow a "fight" proves your worth and that this is self defense. Nothing could be further from the truth! A "fight" is not a self defense situation! I have seen so many martial artist sucked into this idea!

Self Defense Paradigm

Successful Self Defense Paradigm

Real Self Defense is a process of conflict resolution.  Be it someone upset with you and has mental issues and therefore wishes to do harm. Also, up to being in the wrong place, at the wrong time and you are straight out attacked for no reason.

A bar fight is 2 or more MORONS. with over inflated egos, who wish to prove their worth. This is not proving anything but how pathetic you are! Perhaps stop drinking! The cemeteries and prisons are loaded with these clowns!

Self Defense Paradigm #2

Combat and self defense are not the same thing! This is a massive misconception today and a lot of what I see is simply BAD stuff.

It is fun to learn, and learning is ALWAYS a good thing! However it is a fail on the streets, unless you are interested in a prison sentence!

But I hear the food in prison is good! [laughing]

There are some great combat systems to learn like Krav Maga and Systema. I have done some work in Systema myself and they have some great stuff!

But it is not street ready! It is military combat!

New Self Defense Paradigm

New Self Defense Paradigm

Do I really need to tell you everything that is wrong with this one? Both sides are unrealistic! Look at how the knife is being held! And the defense? Only if you want to bleed!

Do I think these systems are of value? For sure! I always encourage martial artists to expand their knowledge whenever possible. Are they a STREET self defense solutions? No they are not because they are COMBAT oriented!

Self Defense is NOT combat! But there is some good things you can integrate into a self defense system. But they are not for the average person.

Self Defense Paradigm #3

This is the most dangerous of all New Self Defense Paradigms! That is that there is any one system that can and will guarantee you success in self defense on the streets! That is simply a LIE! And a dangerous lie!

New Self Defense Paradigm

BAD Self Defense Paradigm

Yes this kind of garbage is being taught as street self defense! There is nothing wrong with learning it, but thinking it will work in an attack is a different thing!

This defender is putting his femoral artery at risk, that is DEATH!

Read this article on the 13 Misconception of Knife Attacks!

Referring to Self Defense Paradigm #2,  people die in hand to hand combat everyday! If these systems were so perfect there would be no casualties!

But nothing is perfect! Therefore we need a New Self Defense Paradigm!

New Self Defense Paradigm

So what is the New Self Defense Paradigm? Lets take a look at a formula for increasing the odds of success in a real life and death situation.

New Self Defense Paradigm #1

The first thing that needs to be taught, considered and understood is prevention. The best, most successful self defense is one that never happens. When you are out know where you are!  Know the neighborhoods and the risks.

Carry a cellphone in your pocket or purse to use it to call 911 or other emergency numbers. But you are NOT holding it in your hands and using it! Pay attention! Don't make it easy for someone to attack you! But the damn phone away!

Self Defense Kyusho and Knockouts

Self Defense needs to be taught properly!

New Self Defense Paradigm #2

Understand the law when it comes to where you live! In self defense you can only use reasonable force. That is enough force to end the attack and nothing more! Never assume anything! Know the facts. As an example here is a link to the Criminal Code of Canada for self defense.  You will find this online for your country very easy!

New Self Defense Paradigm #3

No matter what martial art you study. Learn and incorporate a system(s) that teaches escalation from low to high and how to handle each one! Also learn about stress training, real stress training and not that crap they used 20 years ago with the padded man.

There is a Psychology to Self Defense that must be understood!  You must know yourself and how to respond to an attack. And you must understand the attacker! Both from a psychological and physical aspect so you can do the most damage with the least amount of time involved!

The conflict must end FAST! The clock is not on your side!

Self Defense Solutions

Kyusho Self Defense Techniques

Kyusho Self Defense Techniques

Kyusho Self Defense Techniques

Kyusho Self Defense Techniques

Many instructors of the science of pressure point self defense teach a lot of Kyusho Self Defense Techniques.  I have mostly been teaching the theory behind Kyusho Jitsu as apposed to Kyusho Self Defense Techniques.

However my latest set of courses at Kyusho Jitsu University is different.  The reason I have not taught so many techniques is I did not see the need until recently.  When it comes to "real" usable self defense there are a lot of holes today in the martial arts world.  There are many out of touch instructors, therefore a real need exists!

The Typical Martial Arts System
Martial Arts Tournament

Martial Arts Tournament

In today's world the typical martial art system is divided into 3 parts.  And the 3 parts do not tend to relate to each other. They are as follows.

  1. Foundation work such as Kata, strikes, kicks, etc
  2. Sport - Tournament sparring, ground fighting etc
  3. Self Defense

The foundation work looks nothing like the skills taught to be a competitor, and competition and street defense have nothing to do with each other either.  Just the base mentality should give it away. Sport is a game, street is life and death.

No reasonably intelligent person would confuse or relate one to the other!

Kyusho Self Defense Techniques
What is kyusho Jitsu?

This WON'T WORK!

This is just a picture, but do you see what is wrong with this? Unless the attacker is severely hurt, in which case the attack is OVER, the defender will end up on his back or worse!

This is unrealistic and BAD stuff!

Since I see the need,  I have created a course, based on a certification course I took about 8 years ago called Humane Pressure Point Tactics.  This is a 3 level certification course designed to give the average person, and any martial artist a real grasp on exactly what self defense is. And how to handle different situations.

Don't let the word "humane" fool you! There is nothing "nice" about the Kyusho Self Defense Techniques in this course! However they are based on an understanding of "reasonable force," which is required by LAW for something to be considered as "self defense."

What is H.P.P.T About?
Humane Pressure Point Tactics

Humane Pressure Point Tactics

The idea behind this is to present a well round course in pressure point self defense from an application based standpoint.  Violence has signs and these need to be seen, understood, and at time preemptively dealt with.

Self defense does not go to the ground and if it does you must get up! It is about survival not "winning." Believe me, you will never feel like a "winner!"

The course breaks down into three elements.

  1. Low escalation, or before the attack happens. How to defuse or preemptively deal with a disruptive person before the first blows come.
  2. Level Two begins where level one left off and deals with the situation after the first strike is attempted.
  3. The third level deals with a situation(s) where a weapon has been introduced or more than one attacker is involved.

These courses as about real street survival.

Self Defense is NOT Combat

Today you also see a lot of "combat" types of systems out there. Sorry, self defense is NOT combat! And the big problem? If you cross the line in self defense you can end up begin viewed as the "attacker."  It happens all the time. The mentally of combat is different!

Therefore you cannot approach self defense from a self righteous attitude!

And our course will be teaching real, usable techniques, Kyusho Self Defense Techniques that are not complicated, and therefore work!

And for the average person these Kyusho Self Defense Techniques can be learned and used right out of the box. Also for the martial art student they can easily be adapted to their current style or system. Therefore everyone can get something from these courses!

Kyusho Self Defense Techniques Sample

Below is a sample video. This is not a video from the H.P.P.T Level One course, but this is the type of examples I will cover.  The video is from a weekend seminar in did in 2011 with regards to how self defense is often traditionally taught, vs the idea of updating information and making it useful!

The first example is a punch and a BAD responsive from my root system. No one in real life punches this way! Instead we therefore turn it into a practical, teachable and doable, H.P.P.T learning experience.

In this scenario the "disruptive" person pushes you and you respond with the opportunity to remove them from the scene.

This just skims the surface of what this course is about!

Getting Started

The Humane Pressure Point Tactics course, which will feature real usable Kyusho Self Defense Techniques, will officially launch Level One on June 15th 2018.  However I have already been releasing lessons to those who have preregistered.

Plus I have been offering an AMAZING deal for those who register for Level One before the launch date. You get the One Month Course of ONLY $29.97 plus a guarantee price for Level Two and Three of the same $29.97 each!

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

What are Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points? How do they work, and where do they fit into the study of the science of pressure point self defense?

First there are 3 different types of Alarm Points.  These are very important healing points in Chinese Medicine that have been reverse engineered for Kyusho Jitsu. The types are as follows.

  1. Alarm Points
  2. Associated Alarm Points
  3. Special Alarm Points

These are all very different and each have a different purpose and effect on the body.

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

First we will look at Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points, which are the FRONT Alarm Points in the body.

There is an Alarm Point for each organ on the body. These pressure points have a special and direct relationship with the organ they represent/govern. Attacking an Alarm Point can in theory affect the "health" of the organ. Especially if there are health issues for the person in question.

I have seen on several occasions when LU-01 [Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Point for Lung] is struck correctly that breathing issues develop rather quickly. Yin organs and meridians seem to be more susceptible to this than their Yang counterparts.

However the effect on the meridians is what we are look for more so than organ affect. Alarm Point strikes tend to weaken the body quickly making them very useful in obtaining and knockout quickly. Each Alarm Points has a different angle and direction for activation. And they have what is almost an exponential effect depending on the point.

Associated Alarm Points
Associated Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Associated Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Next we have Associated Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points. These are located on the back, on the BLADDER meridian on the right side of the body ONLY.  These points are far more dangerous, and also harder to reach.

Associated Alarm Points have a direct relationship to the neurological aspect of the organ in question.  A proper strike can shut down the nervous system to the organ and cause failure.  These pressure points while on the Bladder Meridian are marked by their location on the spinal column.

Special Alarm Points
Spleen Meridian

Spleen Meridian & SP-21

Special Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points are very different in function. Each has a specific purpose, not related to an organ. As an example PC-06 which is a Special Alarm Point causes a weakness in the chest area. Therefore making the area most susceptible to strikes. But I am just scratching the surface here.

When are they taught?

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points are an untold principle of Kyusho Jitsu. In my eBook the 15 Principles Plus One of Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points are the "plus one."

The front of the body Alarm Points are typically taught after 1st Dan Black Belt once all the first 5 principles are well understood.  Associated Alarm Points come at 3rd Dan Black Belt once a decent grasp of the front points are understood.

Special Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points typically are master level however I tend to teach them when I think the study is ready.

How important are Alarm Points? Pretty much everything I do is based off these now. It takes time and work to really get a solid grasp on them!

If you are serious about the science of pressure point self defense than Alarm Points are an extremely important learn! These are obviously covered in detail in our Kyusho Jitsu Instructor Certification Courses, but also elsewhere!

Next and I believe to be the best option is an eBook I released a few months back called the Kyusho Jitsu Master Series. This is an eBook video combination on several different high level principles including Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points. Below is a link to learn more!

Kyusho Jitsu Power Principles

Kyusho Jitsu Power Principles

Kyusho Jitsu Power Principles

Kyusho Jitsu Power Principles

Depending on who you study from you may or may not have heard about the Kyusho Jitsu Power Principles. These are 3 simple principles that dictate how the body creates and utilizes power.

More importantly these are directly related to the subject of the principle of Attack Using Correct Body Mechanics.

What are the Kyusho Jitsu Power Principles?
  1. Body Mass - The amount of force that can be developed as a direct result of the mass or weight of the body of the attacker or defender.  This also ties in together with any forward motion.
  2. Torque - The way in which the body moves from the hips. As you walk forward you do not walk in a straight line. You walk instead in a Zig Zag pattern, with each hip retracting and spine turning in an opposite direct of the hip. This torquing motion allows the upper body to increase its strength and force output.
  3. Marriage of Gravity - This is the upward and downward motion the body creates while moving. It is pretty obvious that any downward striking action will have a great force than an upward striking action.

The basic outline of the Kyusho Jitsu Power Principles.

Body Mechanics
Kyusho Body Mechanics

Kyusho Body Mechanics

As I said this all ties into the idea of to attack using correct body mechanics. This would include some of the follow examples.

  1. Angles of attack and defense.  You must strike a pressure point on a 45 degree angle to activate it.
  2. 2 Way Action - Also sometimes called "complex motion." The best term I find for this is when referencing a joint lock to say fulcrum/lever activation. With a punch it relates to the torquing of the arm from the shoulder to the fist.
  3. Centering - This refers to keeping the attack or counter attacker within your center to optimize power.  This also ties in with triangular alignment;
  4. Stances - Understanding how they work, and how to transition in and out of them to keep control of the attacker and the technique.
Understanding Body Mechanics

Understanding Body Mechanics

When you understand how body mechanics really does work you can by attacking pressure points increase the levels of pain on the attacker, plus make sure he does not have an opening to take advantage of. Thus turning the attack back into his favor.

The 10 Principles of Kyusho Jitsu

Body Mechanics, where we find the  3 Kyusho Jitsu Power Principles hidden are the building blocks of the study of the science of pressure point self defense. Attack using proper body mechanics is the 4th of the Novice Principles.

Below is an older video on some of the Body Mechanics principles in our root art system.

Top 3 Most Painful Face Pressure Points

Top 3 Most Painful Face Pressure Points

Top 3 Most Painful Face Pressure Points

Top 3 Most Painful Face Pressure Points

Today I am going to talk about the Top 3 Most Painful Face Pressure Points. Pain is a great deterrent! Understanding these 3 painful face pressure points can come in very handy in a bad situation!

So let's get started!

1) Large Intestine 20
Pressure Points of the Head

Pressure Points of the Head

This is a wonderful pressure point. Located beside the nose in a hollow when it is pushed / rubbed can cause intense pain! One of the reasons for this is that Large Intestine is the only meridian that crosses the body. Plus we are dealing with an area of dental nerves as well as sinus cavities. If you hold the back of the head at GB-20 the effect will intensify!

I have also successfully used this as a knockout point! See the video below.

2) Governor 26

This is another GREAT painful face pressure point! Located right under the nose at center-line this is another RUB point. You can strike it, but if you seal the head like in the previous point, and rub side to side the pain is unbearable!

This is an excellent pressure point to use if you are on your back and have been mounted.

3) Small Intestine 18

If you saw Steven Seagal's movie Under Siege 2 - Dark Territory this is the pressure point his niece attacked on one of the mercenaries.  Another point of intense pain mostly due to the proximity of the sinus cavities. With pollution today most people have sinus issues also.

She does a good job of the grab, however you would support and seal using the left hand at the GB-20 area.  But it does do a decent job of demonstrating the pressure point!

Painful Face Pressure Points

So what is the advantage to understanding Painful Face Pressure Points? These are control points! This allows for the application of techniques, using these kinds of points, to control a BAD situation. One that has not yet turned to out and out violence.

This is the basis for Humane Pressure Point Tactics!

H.P.P.T Courses
Humane Pressure Point Tactics

Humane Pressure Point Tactics

What is H.P.P.T? This is a 3 level certification course in Humane Pressure Point Tactics. These courses cover 3 levels of THREAT and escalation and include actual scenarios and techniques you can add to your martial art style of self defense system.

    Master Kyusho Jitsu

5 Ways to Master Kyusho Jitsu

5 Ways to Master Kyusho Jitsu

Today I want to talk about 5 ways you can Master Kyusho Jitsu. So get ready! But be warned, this means you have to do the work!

I have been told that my knowledge of the science of pressure point self defense is "clinical." There is a reason for that. My teacher Steve Stewart has been involved in the medical profession for years, and is now a doctor of acupuncture. We tend to emulate those who teach us, so I have similar qualities.  Therefore I became clinical.

However Steve was more than just a teacher, he coached me all the way.

    1) Study Habits

The first stage to Master Kyusho Jitsu is to development great study habits. Write out notes freehand because this stimulates retention of information far more than typing on a keyboard.  You can transpose the notes to computer afterward.

    2) Time Management

There is really no such thing as time management, but to Master Kyusho Jitsu you need to set time aside preferably daily to study. The reason "daily" is people thrive with routine. We need a combination of routine and unpredictability to be successful. It does not have to be a lot of time.

But without this discipline to Master Kyusho Jitsu will be almost impossible.

    3) Systems

You need systems of study to really be successful. I teach from a structured system to make sure the student gets the information they need, when they need it! Often times the student is distracted by the next stage of learning and moves on too quickly.  As an example in our GOLD Membership at Kyusho Jitsu University you are fed a new lesson every "X" number of days.

This really helps keep you on track!

    4) Organize your References!

When I first began my Kyusho Jitsu journey I had been out of school a long time. Plus I am a High School dropout! It took me time to reorganize the way I needed so I could learn.

Around the time I got my Master's in Kyusho Jitsu I took all my notes, my son Curt's notes and created the Novice Kyusho Jitsu Certification Workbook. After which I wrote an Advanced and Master's editions.

I know the eBooks are good because I now have several Kyusho Jitsu Master's in my system, and they all used the books! They are translated to Spanish also!

    5) Train the Knowledge

You have to train the knowledge. Get on the floor with a partner and apply what you are learning.  This will give you moments of enlightenment when you will begin to see other things and other relationships to what is happening.

This is a "quantum leap" in your understanding!

    The Quantum Leap

This brings me to "number 6" in the 5 Ways to Master Kyusho Jitsu.  The reason this is number 6 is that it is not an option for everyone.

    You need a coach!

I have had a total of 3 coaches in my career in the martial arts. 2 Business Coaches, Grand Master Stephen Oliver and Grand Master Keith Hafner.  Plus of course GM Steve Stewart.

This coaching took my school to an entirely new level of success. And I was able to Master Kyusho Jitsu, create the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance, and many different course for people to follow this path!

    Kyusho Jitsu Coaching Program

Currently I am coaching 2 student in my Coaching Program. Yesterday I spend 90 minutes on a Skype call with one, giving him information, and answering questions that will bring him to a new level of understanding.

Plus I know in a year he will be where the rest are in 5 years! Why? Because coaching works better than anything else!

Currently with my own personal schedule I can take on one more student! In the future I hope to be able to do 5 yearly.  But I will have to see how things go!

Follow the link below and read about all the benefits of our Coaching Program!

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity because I can only take on so many people! Don't wait! Learn more from the link above.

3 Effective Pressure Points of the Arms

3 Effective Pressure Points of the Arms

3 Effective Pressure Points of the Arms

3 Effective Pressure Points of the Arms

What are the Top 3 MOST Effective Pressure Points of the Arms? The arms are critical in self defense because this is what the attacker brings forward first! Therefore a solid understanding of the most effective Pressure Points of the arms is a must!

When I say effective pressure points I am referring to the ones that work on the MAJORITY of people tested. Nothing in self defense can be guaranteed. Even if you have a gun there is no guarantee, ever!!

    Large Intestine 10
    How Pressure Points Work

    Large Intestine 10

This is an outstanding pressure point, located on the upper part of the forearm near the elbow. This is a STRIKE point, however you can also "press" on it, but I personally do not recommend that in a self defense situation.

This Pressure Point is struck straight through like an arrow.  Note the "through!" You hit this point HARD, striking through  towards the ground.  There is no "light touch" for pressure points. Always remember light is for training and therefore not hurting your partner. The streets are DIFFERENT!

When this point is hit hard there is intense pain, and the hand will open slowly as the pain shoots towards it. The entire arm will go numb from the elbow to the hand. Any weapon will be DROPPED. The effect can last 10 to 20 minutes depending on how hard and clean the hit is. But always assume a short recovery time!

    Lung 6
    Lung Meridian

    Lung 6 Location

This is another very effective pressure point located on the inside of the arm halfway between the elbow and hand on the thumb side.  This point, located mid radial bone works on everyone I have ever tried it one. This is why it is such an effective pressure point.

Striking all pressure points and getting a good results means you need to be using 2 Way Action. Below is a short video demonstrating both Lung 6 and 2 Way action.

Also note, the tighter the grip, the more painful the result! There is also something else very interesting about this pressure point. If the attacker has any chronic lung issues, striking this point will cause them to cough. Therefore telling you more about them and potential attack points.

    Triple Warmer 11
    Triple Warmer Meridian

    Triple Warmer Meridian

This is the last of the 3 most effective pressure points of the arms and it is one of my favorites. This point also works on everyone I have ever tried it on! I also had the occasion many, many years ago to use it in self defense. This was an incident in 2007 in Caracas Venezuela at the airport. The result was a fleeing attacker with a dislocation of the elbow.

Now this pressure point is located just above the elbow joint at the tendon.  The best result will come when the hand is twist so the palm is in the same direction as the elbow, exposing the point more clearly. However a hard strike will compensate for the hand position. Striking or rubbing this point will cause the elbow to release making dislocation easy.

Here is another short video explaining how to active this point!

This is a VERY effect pressure point therefore caution is needed during training as to not dislocate your training partners elbow. Always train safely!

    Effective Pressure Points

The arms have several other very effective pressure points you can use, but this is a great start! Some of the others are TW-12 and PC-02.  There are also some great setup pressure points like PC-6. But I will leave those for another day! Here is a link also to another great article on the 3 Crippling Leg Pressure Points.

There is a lot to learn in the science of Pressure Point Self Defense called Kyusho Jitsu. If you like the charts I have used here follow this link and you can get a copy of the 12 meridians plus the 2 Vessels. These are also printable!

What is Kyusho? A NO BS Answer

What is Kyusho Jitsu? [No BS]

    Pressure Point Basics

    What is Kyusho

Today I am going to answer in detail exactly what is Kyusho Jitsu? This is going to be a detailed NO BS answer to this question. It is time to really clear the air and let the world know the truth, without any HYPE!

    What is Kyusho?

Let's break this down into section so you can see exactly what we are teaching. Kyusho Jitsu is really just a name. It has been translated into English a few time over the years. But the translations are really not that accurate.  But we need to call it something right?

The first I will address is Grand Master George Dillman's translation. He refers to it as 2 Second Fighting. Literally we could break it down as "Kyu" for under, as in Kyu Belt. And "sho" as in high.  Interesting and I have heard this one many times before too.

My explanation? I don't have one! I just use the name. It's just a name.

So I just refer to it as the "science of pressure point self defense." Why do I call it science? Because it fits the Websters definition of science. We research what works, and what does not work, the probability of success and the percent of success.  Science is about research. It is NOT a religion like it is becoming today.

Science of Pressure Point Self Defense

What is Kyusho? Kyusho is a way to look at the neurological components of the human body and exploit weakness.  As an example I know there is a very sensitive nerve just above the elbow joint.

We have all hit our "funny bone" and it ain't funny! When stimulated properly it causes great pain, and more importantly causes the muscles in the area to "relax" releasing the elbow for easy dislocation.

I have never seen a case this did not work either!

    What is a Pressure Point?
    knockout pressure points

    Pressure Points of the Head

This is an involved answer, but here we go! A pressure point is a place on the body where a nerve ends, branches off into a "Y" or crosses over another nerve. Here is a FULL article and explanation of exactly "what a pressure point is and how to activate one."

    Kyusho Jitsu is Nerve Strikes

The basic, down to the root level is that Kyusho Jitsu is nerve strikes. Nerves have many different functions on the human body and Kyusho is exploiting these.  When I teach I do a combination of eastern and western medical approaches.

I find this gives a much better understanding for people! So we have talked about "what is kyusho," now lets talk about WHY we need Kyusho!

    Why do we need Kyusho?

I was asked this question on a forum back a while ago. I had made a post on pressure points that give a response with a single strike. Like GB-20 being a knockout point with no other setup needed as long as it was hit correct and with enough force.

So why is the study needed? The answer is simple really. In an attack, or a fight if you prefer that term,  opportunity for an accurate "powerful" strikes are not always there! The fact is the target is moving therefore accurate power strikes are difficult!

When pressure points are activated the "effect" on the nerve can last up to 20 minutes. This causes a weakness in the body.  If you accumulate these effect with other pressure points strikes you create opportunities that do not exist otherwise.

This takes "luck" out of the self defense equation!

What does this require for success?

You need ONLY 2 things for success with Kyusho Jitsu!

    1. Training in a SOLID root art!
    2. Study in the science of pressure point self defense

This will lay the foundation for your success in a bad situation on the street! There is no "quick fix" as you often see online with "self defense gurus."  You just gotta do the work! But I am here to help you!

Hey, even if you buy a gun, you have to learn to shoot properly right?

    How to get started!

Now I have answered the question what is Kyusho Jitsu. Now I will give you the 2 best options to get started learning! I suggest you do both! Really!

The first is my FREE 30 Day Kyusho Jitsu Mini Course.  This is a lesson every 3 days for 30 Days sent to your email inbox. This is real information about using Kyusho Jitsu, not fluffy BS like some other course.
