They call me the KING of broken relationships. This statement is referring to romantic relationships more than anything else, however it also can apply to other areas of life as well! I have been married twice, and have had a string of failed relationships, all while doing what I love to do which is train and teach the martial arts.
People who are involved in martial arts training find that it can quickly become an obsession. I trained when I began 4 nights per week, several hours at a time. My then wife was a martial artist, but the relationship tanked anyways.
So what is the point to all this? No I am not looking for sympathy as I am a very happy man! However it took many years of pain, issues with spouses, conflicts with family, working way to many hours to finally get things right!
I have been thinking about this book a long time. So coming in the new year is another work, that will e entitled The Martial Arts Enigma, balancing Love, Life and Martial Arts Business.
I think I am very qualified to write this one! In this book I will explain how I failed as a husband, but succeeded as a father. Failed while working for a large corporation, but created a Dojo that has been in business for almost 18 years. How I managed to keep myself together emotionally while pursuing my dreams in the martial arts world.
I will begin the process of writing this book very soon. Right now I am in the note taking stage, talking with former wives and girlfriends for some insight. Also discussion with kids and friends.
I want to create something that is NOT a biography, but a guide to help the martial artist, fighter and martial arts professional to balance this crazy world of the martial artist and real life.
The link below will take you to our eBook website where you can preorder this work if you wish! As usual there is a savings doing so!

A few weeks back I was going through some of my older video series and found a few real gems! A series of 5 videos on some Advanced Kyusho Jitsu Principles! I had forgotten these even existed. So I decided to edit them and make them available to everyone for a limited time.
So what is in this Advanced Kyusho Jitsu Video Series?
In Video #1 on the 24 Hour Diurnal Cycle which is a complex principle in Kyusho Jitsu which goes hand in hand with principles like The Cycle of Destruction and Attack using Yin and Yang. The 24 Hour Diurnal Cycle concerns the direction of chi energy flow in the body. This is then tied to each element by the meridian and then a time of day when the energy is at it peak. However the understanding of this takes some time, therefore this is a very important video!
Video #2, which is not a Kyusho Jitsu Principle, however the Pressure Points of the Head are critical for successful self defense. These are touched upon during the Novice learning time, but become a very important focus during advanced Kyusho training.
Many of these points are Knockout points which only require a single strike to be effective! Now when I refer to single strike I am referring to a one hit knockout! For more information on these kinds of points visit this LINK.
Video #3 on the Microcosmic Orbit is actually one of the Kyusho Jitsu Principle above 10. This principle is based on energy flow in the body and requires some work to implement. There are 2 different Micros Cosmic Orbits in the body both of which can be used to increase your own chi levels.
Video #4 on the Quadrant Theory is also one of the Kyusho Jitsu Principle above 10. This is also one of the most effective principles once understood fully. It is based on the idea that different areas of the body are “allergic” to other areas. Not this is not actually the case, however this is the type of reaction you get when applying the principle. The Quadrant Theory is way to increase the pain level of any technique to un-imagined heights!
Video #5 on the Emotions is a very interesting one! There is a Cycle of Destruction for Emotions and in this video I really get into it! The principle is fascinating to work with, however caution needs to be used with this one as it is very powerful!
Now for some really great news! I released these videos a few months back, for a limited time, until the new series is complete, and have been selling the set for $25.
Follow this LINK NOW before the chance is GONE!
Have a fantastic Labour Day!
We have launched a exciting NEW option at Kyusho Jitsu University which is called the Virtual Classroom. The idea behind this is too teach a pressure point class via Skype in someone’s dojo or training hall. All that is needed is a laptop, a decent internet connection and a large TV monitor if possible!
On Saturday September 16th we are going to be doing our first pilot run of this new program. I have an advanced Kyusho Jitsu Study Groups at my Dojo in Windsor Ontario Canada and they will be the first group doing the test run with me! From what I have been told everyone is very exciting for this event! It has been more than 18 months since I was last in the country, and as one of my last acts before leaving I did a pressure point workshop for them!
I will be working with Masters Riccardo Pappini and Louise St Jacques , Certified KJWA Teachers, to decide what materials I will cover based on where the students are in their current studies. I have the feeling I will be covering the Kyusho Jitsu Principles from 6-10 and perhaps even going into Alarm Points. The time set aside for this class is 2.5 hours.
After this session is finished I will be giving a report on how things went on the Kyusho Jitsu World LiveStream on YouTube. I have provided a link to the YouTube Channel if you wish to check this out!
If the students enjoy this experience we will likely repeat it every few months. I am expecting this to go very well!
The idea and reason behind the “Virtual Classroom” is simple. There is a shortage of qualified and knowledgeable Kyusho Jitsu Teachers in the world and many Dojo owners would like to have the art and science of pressure point self defense as part of their curriculum, but they do not feel comfortable teaching the class themselves. I hear this quite often! So the solution is a virtual classroom. The bonus for the instructor / school owners is they can also make some cash for their school doing this!
As the idea catches on we expand on it I will make seminars available the same way!
How can you learn more about hosting a Kyusho Jitsu Virtual Study Group in your Dojo or club? That is easy! Follow the link below to our website where you can find out anything you need to know. The site is still under some construction. However if you have a question that is not answered there you can email it to me directly! Email Grand Master Art Mason right here.
I am also planning on recording this test session and making some of the footage available. This way you can see how this will all work for you! Here is the link now for the Virtual Classroom information!
The art and science of pressure point self defense is a game changer! When added to any martial art or combat self defense system making it more effective. If you are new to Kyusho Jitsu consider joining our FREE Mini Course. All you need to do is fill out the from below and then verify your email and you are in!
Have a great day everyone!
The need for real effective Self Defense is more important today than ever before in our society. Violence is escalating on the streets, each and every day. There is trouble in the school system with bullies and gangs. There are no go zones in our cities and countries. People have gone nuts!
In some places there is even issues with police. It is time for REAL Self Defense Solutions.
Where to begin? I begin with the hope that as you are reading this you are already actively involved in a martial art, therefore are prepared to take the next step. Most of all it is preferable you are in a self defense oriented martial art versus a sport version. However sport is better than none! Why do say this? The reality of ring and street are very different, however your sport skills can be enhanced as to make your style effective anywhere! If you are not in a martial art check locally to get started.
Next no matter what style you are training in currently you need to add the knowledge, the understanding of the science of Pressure Point Self Defense. This is called Kyusho Jitsu and it is a game changer. In this study you will learn to attack areas of the body, tied to the neurological system that will give a predictable outcome on the attack.
Here are 2 different ways you can start!
Both are great options, consider doing both, its a great way to begin!
The next thing to look at, which ties into the study of Kyusho Jitsu is understanding how Neurological Knockouts work. Most important of all this knowledge can help you end an attack in seconds! Time is critical because the longer the altercation, the more dangerous it becomes.
For this there are also 2 ways you can go about learning. my suggestion here is again to do BOTH.
The final item I am going to suggest in the post is dealing with a very DEADLY situation. In a violent attack on the street you are very likely to encounter someone armed with knife rather than a gun, therefore you need an advantage! Most of all you need to know you can protect your loved ones, because sometimes running is not an option.
This situation is far more dangerous than most people realize and a leading cause of serious injury and death! Right now I am about to release a NEW eBook with video content included on using the science of pressure point self defense in knife defense situations.
Kyusho Jitsu Knife Defense is the title of my new eBook. Right now you can preorder a copy for delivery later this month and SAVE about 50% over the regular price!
People really do need to become proactive today about the street violence we see daily in the news and on TV. Martial Arts training along with the addition of the art and science of pressure point self defense, Kyusho Jitsu is a game changer!
Fill your self defense tool box with the best possible training and information! You and your family’s safety is the most important thing!
Have a great day!

So how Dangerous are Neurological Knockouts? This is actually a relative question because it depends on the point you hit. Light touch for the most part in training is relatively safe. However nothing is perfect and here are a few things to avoid.
Aside from these points requiring some serious caution most will work well with little to no effect afterward on the person being knocked out.
Above is an article done in 1997 on the results of some tests done that Kyusho is safe to train in.

Grand Master Art Mason
I have been in the martial arts for a long time now. And truthfully it was the best thing I ever did for myself and my family. The reasons why are just too numerous to mention here!
All of my children train or have trained in the arts up to at least the level of 1st Dan Black Belt, as well as my kids mom. Now everyone is all grown up, but 2 of them are still practicing / teaching in the arts.
So the benefits have been numerous for all of us. But how? Because as martial arts students first, teachers second we have also continued to pursue knowledge. Leaving the ego at the door of the training hall or dojo, to continue our person development. This is why we have been so successful as teachers and dojo operators.
Our egos don’t get in the way because we know we will never stop learning and then sharing this knowledge with out students.
Over 16 years ago I discovered the art and science of Kyusho Jitsu, and began to share this knowledge with my students in Canada, then others across the world. Why I am so successful doing this? Because I know I still have so much to learn!
Kyusho Jitsu, the art and science of pressure point self defense is a game changer, and equalizer in the real world of escalating violence we will in!
If you are concerned about personal safety, or are a martial artist looking to improve your skills, perhaps a master instructor operating a dojo wishing to give your students more, then get started NOW with our free Kyusho Jitsu Mini Course.
You will be very happy you did!
Time for understanding 2 Way Action. First do you realize Kyusho Jitsu, the science of pressure point self defense is really a science. Here is a definition of the word.
This is how we study and learn as teachers and students of Kyusho jitsu. Science is NOT a DOGMA vomited forth by an authority like it is so often done today! It is the study of possibly and repeatable events or results.
The progress of Kyusho over the years has been very solid and steady. New things are discovered about the bodies reaction to stimulation all the time. This is why the study of Kyusho is so exciting for those of use seriously doing it. There is always something new!
Back in Kyusho’s humble beginning a pioneer of the arts, Professor Wally Jay brought something to Kyusho that revolutionized its effectiveness.
That was 2 Way Action! Today 2 Way Action is a cornerstone of the art and study, but sometimes people have problems understanding and applying it! Without 2 way action you will fail to make many things work!
If you watch this video you will get a deeper understanding of 2 Way Action, along with the lost art of visualization. This will help you immeasurably with your training. Hence making things work easier for you.

The basics of Kata interpretation is one of many important aspects of Kyusho study. However, from a self defense standpoint there is a lot more! Now many of the very old Kata have some set interpretations and that is very cool! However, teaching someone to interpret something by showing them what it is, well that is not really teaching. Tradition is awesome, but in my view there needs to more.
Words matter, they are very powerful and they have BIG influence on your mind. The ability to defend yourself goes far beyond "style" and right into teaching and deprogramming certain beliefs some people can have.
Are you aware that the term "block" is wrong? For many people, not everyone, if you teach them "block" they will not ever do it under pressure. If you use the word "strike" they will be more likely to do so. Therefore, the best method to teach for self defense is that every block is really a strike. The very definition of the word block messes up the connection between the conscious and unconscious mind.
Block - verb -make the movement or flow in (a passage, pipe, road, etc.) difficult or impossible.
An example is using a "down block" better called a "down strike" to redirect the kick. Redirect and block do not have the same meaning!
So how does all this relation to Kata Interpretation? Very simple, you teach the student, guide the student into seeing things themselves in the Kata, and not just telling them what is there! If they discover it, then a connection is made in the brain, and this increasing the likelihood of them being able to use said technique in real life.
With that in mind I am in the process of creating a NEW video series on the Basics of Kata Interpretation. It will be 3 part series, each coming at different times. I have not done a video series like this in years so this will be fun!
Now we have an exciting video series on the basics of Kata Interpretation. And the great news is that it is ONLY $14.97! Follow the link below and read more on this greats series!
