Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

What are Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points? How do they work, and where do they fit into the study of the science of pressure point self defense?

First there are 3 different types of Alarm Points.  These are very important healing points in Chinese Medicine that have been reverse engineered for Kyusho Jitsu. The types are as follows.

  1. Alarm Points
  2. Associated Alarm Points
  3. Special Alarm Points

These are all very different and each have a different purpose and effect on the body.

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

First we will look at Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points, which are the FRONT Alarm Points in the body.

There is an Alarm Point for each organ on the body. These pressure points have a special and direct relationship with the organ they represent/govern. Attacking an Alarm Point can in theory affect the "health" of the organ. Especially if there are health issues for the person in question.

I have seen on several occasions when LU-01 [Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Point for Lung] is struck correctly that breathing issues develop rather quickly. Yin organs and meridians seem to be more susceptible to this than their Yang counterparts.

However the effect on the meridians is what we are look for more so than organ affect. Alarm Point strikes tend to weaken the body quickly making them very useful in obtaining and knockout quickly. Each Alarm Points has a different angle and direction for activation. And they have what is almost an exponential effect depending on the point.

Associated Alarm Points
Associated Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Associated Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points

Next we have Associated Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points. These are located on the back, on the BLADDER meridian on the right side of the body ONLY.  These points are far more dangerous, and also harder to reach.

Associated Alarm Points have a direct relationship to the neurological aspect of the organ in question.  A proper strike can shut down the nervous system to the organ and cause failure.  These pressure points while on the Bladder Meridian are marked by their location on the spinal column.

Special Alarm Points
Spleen Meridian

Spleen Meridian & SP-21

Special Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points are very different in function. Each has a specific purpose, not related to an organ. As an example PC-06 which is a Special Alarm Point causes a weakness in the chest area. Therefore making the area most susceptible to strikes. But I am just scratching the surface here.

When are they taught?

Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points are an untold principle of Kyusho Jitsu. In my eBook the 15 Principles Plus One of Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points are the "plus one."

The front of the body Alarm Points are typically taught after 1st Dan Black Belt once all the first 5 principles are well understood.  Associated Alarm Points come at 3rd Dan Black Belt once a decent grasp of the front points are understood.

Special Kyusho Jitsu Alarm Points typically are master level however I tend to teach them when I think the study is ready.

How important are Alarm Points? Pretty much everything I do is based off these now. It takes time and work to really get a solid grasp on them!

Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction

Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction

Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction

Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction

A cornerstone, the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction is something every student of the science of pressure point self defense is aware of. But this principle goes much deeper than many realize. Today I will address this is details for you!

What is the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction?

First let's break it down into its 5 different parts.  The first thing to know is that in Kyusho Jitsu the body is broken down by the 5 element theory of Chinese Medicine. This is in of itself a complex theory.

Now in Kyusho Jitsu we do study the 5 Element Cycle of Creation also, but mostly focus on the Cycle of Destruction. So let's do the breakdown now.

  1. Fire melts Metal
  2. Metal chops Wood
  3. Wood penetrates Earth
  4. Earth dams Water
  5. Water quenches Fire

From here things get a little more complicated.

Element and Meridians
Triple Warmer Meridian

Triple Warmer Meridian

The body is divided up into 12 different meridians, each reflected bilaterally on the body. Each meridian has a relationship to a specific element.  There are as an example 2 of each element. One is yin and the other yang.

With the exception of fire, which has 4 meridians related to it.  Let's look at this now.

Fire Meridians
Heart
Pericardium
Triple Warmer
Small Intestine

Metal Meridians
Lung
Large Intestine

Wood Meridians
Liver
Gall Bladder

Earth Meridians
Spleen
Stomach

Water Meridians
Kidney
Bladder

Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction

Now you have the basic structure of how this all works.  If you study the charts you will also discover that the fire and metal meridians run into the arms, and therefore the hands. Hence the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction begins with the implements used for striking.

This principle from here gets complicated.  Therefore here is a video for you to watch and enjoy on the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction.

My Kyusho Black Belt Journey

Shares

Kyusho Black Belt

Kyusho Black Belt

Kyusho Black Belt

My journey to getting a Kyusho Black Belt began way back in 2002 when I attended my very first George Dillman seminar. The seminar was hosted by Steve Stewart in London Ontario. I was excited and fascinated to go. I had seen a Kempo master perform a knockout once before, but I was not convinced what I was seeing was possible,

Little did I know how wrong I could be!

After that fateful Saturday afternoon I was hooked and wanted to learn more. Not because of the knockouts, but rather the increase in pain I could get in my joint locks by making small chances to include pressure point manipulation.

Why was this so important to me? After 20 years of working on an assembly line at Chrysler my hand had suffered a lot of damage. Kyusho Jitsu gave me back what I lost there.

My History in Martial Arts

Aging Martial Artists Circa 1993

Philip's School 1993 - 4th from left

Because to many martial artists, masters and grand masters history and/or linage is very important. I want to include a little about mine.  I began my martial arts career back on November 10th 1984 in the Chung Oh's systems of Hapkido / Taekwondo in Windsor Ontario Canada.  This was an old world school, with a combination focus on self defense and tournament fighting [TKD style].

However rather then spend about 5000 words in this post to talk about all this history, if you are interested you can follow this LINK. It leads to a series of posts on the History of The Peaceful Warriors Martial Arts Institute in Canada.

Getting My Kyusho Black Belt

After the seminar in London as I have said before I was hooked!  I registered for GM Steward's study group and prepared for fall when the classes would begin!

I am not going to give you all the details of driving back and forth to London each month. Nor talk about the 3 hour sessions of Kyusho Jitsu we had.  I am sure you can figure out for yourself the work involved in study.

But what I want to talk of is something that today I find humorous.  That is my first session.  GM Stewart had a rule. There were 12 sessions, you HAD to attend 11 or you would not grade.  On my very first session I broke all the rules to make sure I could attend!

Now I operated my own school, that ran 6 days per week. But that was not an issued. I could cover classes while I was gone. No, the woman I was in a relationship and I had purchased a house. And my first class was on moving day!  I got a truck, found some students and parent to help move. And I was off to London!

Apparently that is a relationship "no no." She did not say a word about it to me. But the relationship crashed and burned about 6 months later.  This is one reason I am sometimes called the "king of broken relationships."

3rd Dan Grading with GM Steve Stewart

3rd Dan Grading with GM Steve Stewart

My dedication to what I was doing had not bounds! But I got my Kyusho Black Belt.

Today is Simpler

I would not say that getting a Kyusho Black Belt is any easier, but it has become simpler.  And there is good reason for it. The advances in video streaming and access to information has truly revolutionized everything!

But you still have to do the work! If this is something that interests you I have a great way for you to achieve this!

Novice Kyusho Jitsu Home Study Course

Back in 2009 I created the Kyusho Jitsu Home Study Course. It was a tremendous hit! Since that time I have updated,  and make it an all inclusive certification course for the motivated martial artists who wished to keep learning. Most of all everything is here for you to learn and grade for a 1st Dan Kyusho Black Belt.

Right now for a limited time you can save a bundle of money too! Follow the link below and read all about the course, and how it will benefit everything you do in your martial arts study.

Humane Pressure Points in Today’s World

Humane Pressure Points in Today's World

Humane Pressure Points in Today's World

Humane Pressure Points in Today's World

Self Defense has become an important subject and so Humane Pressure Points in Today's World have become critical to understand.  Everyday people are arrested for defending themselves, and many times the ""perp"" is freed because his "rights" have been violated!

It is a sad but true reflection on society today.  Here is a story from the UK that expresses this issue. Is there a solution?

Yes there is! Read on!

Understanding Our Society Today

We live in a surveillance culture first of all. This is something we all need to understand and accept because you are not going to change it! During an altercation there is always someone watching.

Here is a great example from the terrorist attack in Toronto last week. A guy videoing the police confrontation with the attacker rather than taking cover! Had the police officer shot this man, well you can imagine how the media would have wanted to attack the officer for brutality!

Understanding and Accessing Risk

The next thing that needs to be understood is the levels of threat or risk. I hear often from martial artists how they will "do this or that" and all of it is excessive!  You can only use "reasonable force" right of wrong. And being wrong can land you in JAIL.

You need to know your local laws and train for the different RISK FACTORS.

This is why you need Humane Pressure Point Tactics Training!

What is Humane Pressure Point Tactics About?

Humane Pressure Points

Humane Pressure Points

H.P.P.T for short is a 3 Level Course that covers understanding risk and threat level factors and using the proper amount of force for the given situation. The first level which launches on June 15th 2018 at Kyusho Jitsu University will cover the following topics.

  • Basic anatomy with reference to painful pressure points
  • Using angles to control a disruptive person therefore prevent attack
  • Removing a disruptive person from the area.
  • Restraining a disruptive person until the authorities arrive
  • Assessing situations for use of proper force.
  • Level One will deal exclusively with low level situations working to prevent them from escalating!  This is one of the major areas many martial artists and fighters get into deep trouble with the law.

Most of all this is a full certificate certification course for the student and the instructor alike. I am hoping that the instructors will be teaching this course in their own Dojo, and can do so with the full backing of the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance.

    Who is this course for?

This course is for the martial arts, self defense expert, or anyone concerned about the state of our streets today.  It is perfect for:

    • Any Dojo owner or instructor looking to expand their self defense knowledge in an industry dominated by sport competition.
    • A self starting person who finishes what they are doing.
    • Some who is opened minded to learn and still "teachable."

So are you interested in learning more? Follow the link below and it will tell you all you need to know about this epic course!  There is also a great deal for preregistration.

Today understanding risk, and being vigilant in your training is more important than ever before.  Here is a link to another article on Humane Pressure Point Tactics that will also help you to fully understand how important this training is going to be.

    Important Pressure Points

    Pressure Points

    Pressure Points of the Arm

    Pressure Points of the Arm

Today I was thinking about the pressure points I will be adding reference too in the Encyclopedia of Kyusho Jitsu. Now I have already added Alarm Points, Associated Alarm Points as well as Special Alarm Points. However I want to add a good reference for certain "regular" pressure points that could be considered as "important" or critical to learn. Therefore I am asking for a little help.

I am getting myself in deep here! But I do want this to be the premier Kyusho Jitsu reference on the planet.

    Points to add

So the following pressure points will be part of this reference.

    • St-05
    • GB-20
    • TW-17
    • BL-10
    • LI-18
    • ST-09,10
    • SI-16
    • LU-10
    • LU-5
    • PC-06
    • TW-11
    • TW-12
    • SP-21
    • SP-11
    • GB-31
    • SP-06

Now I have excluded Alarm and Associated Alarm Points from this list. Plus I did it so the layout here would work too. But aside from that what other points should I give specific references too? What ones would you like to see referenced as part of the Encyclopedia Of Kyusho Jitsu?

Please comment below and tell me what else I should add! If you are not yet familiar with the Encyclopedia of Kyusho Jitsu use the link below and read more.

    Expanding Kyusho Jitsu Teachings

    Expanding Kyusho Jitsu Teachings

    Expanding Kyusho Jitsu Teachings

    Expanding Kyusho Jitsu Teachings

I am very pleased that we are expanding Kyusho Jitsu teachings across the world! This weekend we added another country, Chile in South America. You can read more about that right here.

One of the reasons I view this as so very important is that the science of pressure point self defense, when practiced by dedicated martial artists WORKS. And in today's world of ever increasing problems effective self defense becomes more and more important. Therefore the role of the Kyusho Jitsu Teacher cannot be overstated! Martial Artists teaching Kyusho Jitsu locally to students, special self defense calls and children is over critical importance. And it needs to be spread without the politics so often associated with these kinds of programs.

    Creating Teachers

Because creating qualified, certified Kyusho Jitsu teachers across the planet is my goal and mandate. And I know this means that I must be heavily involved in this process. Answering questions and providing support along the way. When a student asks a question I NEVER send them to an FAQ. I answer the question.

So right now I am offering an unprecedented chance to get in on the ground floor.

But I am up to this challenge!

Growing an organization like the Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance requires good people, dedicated to what they do, who want to make a different in the industry. We have those people here in the KJWA.

Are you a motivated martial artists? Would you be interested in joining us and becoming a Certified Kyusho Jitsu Instructor? Right now I have torn the barriers down to do this. There has never been a better time! The usual cost of Level One Instructor Certification is $997! But right now you can get this all inclusive course for ONLY $97! Plus I am even offer to divide this up into 3 payments. Therefore now is the time to act!

If this is something you would like to do now is the time! The price will never be lower, however it will not remain this low much longer either!

    Ground Floor Opportunity

Follow the link below and learn more about our Kyusho Jitsu World Alliance Instructor Certification Courses. Currently Level One and Level Two are being offered at $900 each! No experience is necessary! This is a complete A-Z training!

Best Way to Learn Kyusho Jitsu

    Learn Kyusho Jitsu

Best Way to Learn Kyusho Jitsu

Best Way to Learn Kyusho Jitsu

What is the best way to learning Kyusho Jitsu? This is a great question, so let me explain with a real life example from my own history.

I started my formal martial arts training in November 1984. After I got my green belt the following June my instructor wanted me to begin to help out teaching class in a neighboring town which he had a branch location in. I accepted with great honor! A gentlemen who started before I did was also asked to help in a different location. He declined.

Now I am not a natural athlete. I played hockey for 18 years, boxed and wrestled but nothing came easy. I had to work HARD to get good. Martial Arts was no exception. But by the time our Black Belt grading rolled around in 1988 I was miles ahead of my friend. Why? Because I was teaching as well as training!

Teaching is NOT for everyone, but it will accelerate learning more than you can imagine!

    Teaching Kyusho Jitsu

When you teach it requires you to know the material even better than someone else at your same level. That is why teaching is the best way to learn Kyusho Jitsu! This is the main reason for my "clinical" knowledge in the art! I began teaching it the month after I started my Novice program!  Now I was not running study groups at that point, but I was integrating into my adult classes!

Right now you have an unparalleled opportunity to learn Kyusho Jitsu by becoming a teacher! I am offer our Novice Kyusho Jitsu Instructor Certification Course for a FRACTION of its value! Plus you can divide the payment into 3 if you would like too! Follow this link and be prepared to be SHOCKED at how economic this is right now!

    Self Defense is Neurological

    Self Defense is Neurological

    Self Defense is Neurological

    Self Defense is Neurological

The root if all Self Defense is Neurological! It does not matter what we are taking about, including in MMA style of sport combat, it all gets down to the neurological. Back last year I made a post on a well know martial arts form about Neurological Knockouts. There was a comment that if pressure point strikes are neurological why do we need Kyusho? Because they are inseparable! Acupuncture is about the neurological also, but they just don't want to say it.

Watch this video, then below I will explain it!

    The Nervous System

What happens in this knockout? Very simple really, the Uki's unconscious mind become confused because both of his hand have crossed center. This happens in the brain any time you reach across your own center line. The unconscious mind looks for the limb that crossed by connect the 2 hemispheres of the brain more closely. When I kick him at SP-11, which is a DANGEROUS point the brain rebooted to protect itself. The body protects itself by "relaxing" to prevent serious injury.

What makes this area dangerous? If the femur were to break then the femoral artery could rupture. The femoral nerve protects this! In a life of death situation I would kick this location for all it is worth, assuming the opportunity to do so. If you do not believe this ask your doctor or an orthopedic surgeon.

    Everything is Neurological

So I am hoping you can see that everything is self defense is, after you get past learning the movement in martial arts, neurological. So if you are not studying the science of pressure point self defense WHY NOT?

Here is a great opportunity! I am going to offer you a 10 Video Neurological Knockout Course the unbelievable LOW PRICE of $7.97! This course is worth at least $40 and usually sell for $19.97!

How can you go wrong for the price of 2 Starbucks coffees?

Dim Mak is Advanced Self Defense

    Advanced Self Defense

    Advanced Self Defense

    Advanced Self Defense

What do I mean by Advanced Self Defense? What exactly is the reference here to Dim Mak? Let me explain.

Self defense is a complicated subject. There are never any guarantees when/if you are attacked on the street. Remember this is NOT a fight. This "person" has a motive and it has NOTHING to do with his or her ego. Unless you are unfortunate enough to encounter a serial killer.

There is no way to predict anything when it comes to being attacked. Sometimes you see it coming because you are being "interviewed" while other time the attack can come long after the interview. So there is a lot to prepare for!

    3 Types of Attack

First we need to understand there are ONLY 3 ways to attack someone after the interview. These are the physical methods of attack. You will either be

    1. Pushed first
    2. Grabbed first
    3. Punched first

Now a knife is the 3rd option.  If you don't see it coming you need to rely on your self defense skills, based in your root art, with hopefully the addition of the science of pressure point self defense to make you more effective!

If you see it coming, realize you are being interviewed, you can then prepare for what comes next. This gives you opportunity, if trained properly, to assess the attack, like he did you, and use this information against him! Therefore this is what I mean about Advanced Self Defense.

It is also what the Dim Mak Project is about.

    Dim Mak Project

The Dim Mak Project is what I would consider to be HIGH LEVEL Kyusho Jitsu Study. But then these are only "names." What it is all about is advanced self defense under the circumstances that you know the situation is going bad. It is learning to be aware and see the weakness in the attacker and capitalize on these weaknesses.  With this in mind I created the Dim Mak Project Development Courses

Currently we have 2 courses. The 1st one, and the place you need to start is the Novice Dim Mak Development Course. This covers all the basics of truly advanced self defense learning you can apply to your root martial art system. The second is the Intermediate Dim Mak Development Course which launched May 15th 2018 and is about "applications" for the information. Therefore helping with integration into you art.

In conclusion take a look at the LINK below and get started today!

    Pressure Point Angle & Direction

    Pressure Point Angle & Direction

    Pressure Point Angle & Direction

    Pressure Point Angle & Direction

Understanding the Correct Pressure Point Angle & Direction to attack is a "master key" to success in self defense and therefore Kyusho Jitsu. We often overlook the simple things in favor of the complex and this one such example. Pressure Point Angle & Direction is a novice concept, often forgotten for more exciting things.

What is the correct angle and direction to strike a pressure point? Well the angle is ALWAYS 45 degrees. The direction will vary from pressure point to pressure point across the 12 meridians and 2 vessels.  Achieving the 45 degree angle is done each time using what is called 2 Way Action. Some will call this complex motion, however it is really just natural movement. But when you are learning a martial art you often have to circle back to natural movement.

    Linear Movement is Death

At lot of self defense I see in the wild is based on 2 different things. One is linear movement, which is OK for beginners but it must not remain that way. That is meeting force with force and, well you just don't want to play that game.

The second is "circling," or responding to an attack like a boxer would usually circling to the right. That will also get you hurt. Why? Because the attacker is always going to move in a linear motion. They are DRIVEN by emotions such as anger, hate and desperation. You cannot control this "intent" like you control a "fight" in a ring.

    Proper Movement

Proper movement is learning to use angles. This first and most importantly moves you out of danger momentarily because it is defense. You are not meeting their power!  Now if you were standing in the middle of the road with a car speeding at you would you backup? Of course not! That would get you killed! So why would you do this with someone attacking you?

How do I know what I am talking about works? Here is a true story!

    True Story

Back in 2002 I was hit while working at Chrysler by a fork lift. I was severely lacerated and had lost part of my Achilles tendon. Therefore I end up in a cast on crutches for 3 months. After which I was put into a walking cast. My first day back on my feet in a walking cast I was out on the Dojo floor while my son Curt was teaching this movement. Now in my root system we train this each night. He was having some issue getting someone to understand what he wanted so I stepped in to help. Now when we train this we train FULL SPEED. If you don't move you are going to get CLOCKED in the face. Curt punched at me forgetting I was in a cast. he came FULL SPEED and I move out of the line, to the correct angle to counter attack flawlessly. He look up at me and said, "sorry you OK?" My response was "Yes, I guess we see how we this works!" There is much more to this, too much for a single post!
