Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction

A cornerstone, the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction is something every student of the science of pressure point self defense is aware of. But this principle goes much deeper than many realize. Today I will address this is details for you!

What is the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction?

First let's break it down into its 5 different parts.  The first thing to know is that in Kyusho Jitsu the body is broken down by the 5 element theory of Chinese Medicine. This is in of itself a complex theory.

Now in Kyusho Jitsu we do study the 5 Element Cycle of Creation also, but mostly focus on the Cycle of Destruction. So let's do the breakdown now.

  1. Fire melts Metal
  2. Metal chops Wood
  3. Wood penetrates Earth
  4. Earth dams Water
  5. Water quenches Fire

From here things get a little more complicated.

Element and Meridians
Triple Warmer Meridian

Triple Warmer Meridian

The body is divided up into 12 different meridians, each reflected bilaterally on the body. Each meridian has a relationship to a specific element.  There are as an example 2 of each element. One is yin and the other yang.

With the exception of fire, which has 4 meridians related to it.  Let's look at this now.

Fire Meridians
Heart
Pericardium
Triple Warmer
Small Intestine

Metal Meridians
Lung
Large Intestine

Wood Meridians
Liver
Gall Bladder

Earth Meridians
Spleen
Stomach

Water Meridians
Kidney
Bladder

Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction

Now you have the basic structure of how this all works.  If you study the charts you will also discover that the fire and metal meridians run into the arms, and therefore the hands. Hence the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction begins with the implements used for striking.

This principle from here gets complicated.  Therefore here is a video for you to watch and enjoy on the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction.

Yes, this is a long video, but it is well worth the time to view it! This will give you a rock solid understanding of how the Kyusho Jitsu Cycle of Destruction works!

Success Learning Kyusho Jitsu

Learning Kyusho Jitsu

Being successful in learning Kyusho Jitsu requires time and work. There are no short cuts and anyone who says there is, well they are lying! However there are better methods and practices to help you get there!

The first year or the "novice" study is the most challenging because there is so much to learn. And it MUST be memorized. My first year was a big challenge for me because I had been out of school for years. Plus I was not a good student in school. I was very average.

Novice Learning

Here is an example of ONE item that must be committed to memory in the novice year, that you do not really even use until advanced sessions.

24 Hour Cycle

  • 3:00 am to 5:00am Lung
  • 5:00 am to 7:00 am Large Intestine
  • 7:00 am to 9:00 am Stomach
  • 9:00 am to 11:00 am Spleen
  • 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Heart
  • 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Small Intestine

Now for the sake of time I only did half of the cycle. But this is one of those very important memory items! You should also memorize the military time too.

Here is another example:

Meridians

Lung Meridian - The lung meridian has 11 points, the element is metal and it is a YIN organ. The energy flow is leaving the body. The path is in the image below.

Lung Meridian

Lung Meridian

Now considering there are 12 meridians, reflected on each side of the body. Plus 2 vessels, this is a lot of information. Therefore a system, and way to reference becomes essential!

And the GOOD NEWS I have a possible solution for you! Follow the link below and read more on the best tool and reference available for learning kyusho Jitsu!

Cycle of Destruction

Cycle of Destruction

Cycle of Destruction

Cycle of Destruction

The Cycle of Destruction is a cornerstone principle in the science of pressure point self defense called Kyusho Jitsu. It comes from the basics of Chinese Medicine and is several thousand years old.

This system is part of the balance of the body and exists in a complete group known as Wu Xing. Therefore it is complete and always coupled with the Cycle of Creation, the cycle of certain high gravity planets, seasons and several other things.

For us in Kyusho Jitsu we focus on the destructive part in order to help to defend oneself in an attack.  For our purposes the cycle breaks down as follows.

  • Fire melts Metal
  • Metal chops Wood
  • Wood penetrates Earth
  • Earth dams Water
  • Water quenches Fire

Then the information is used within strikes to certain areas of the body for a predictable result.

Kyusho Jitsu References

Finding detailed information on the science of pressure points can be difficult! The information above is from an ongoing project for the martial artists and Kyusho Jitsu practitioners in particular. It is called the Encyclopedia of Kyusho Jitsu.  The information in this project will be specific to Kyusho and its application, not to acupuncture or other medical applications.

Therefore if you would like to learn more about this ongoing and expanding project follow the link below! There will be nothing like it anywhere on the internet!
