Do you Worry your Skills in Martial Arts May Fail You???
I think that every martial artist / security / police or military person have had this concern inside their heads at one time or another. Someone who has not is either lying or foolish with over confidence.
Recently I saw a video with an Aikido master versus and knife expert and the Aikido master got NUKED. He was surprised and humbled because he thought he would do better. But for him it was a positive experience!
Self defense, street fights as Bruce Lee stated are like a living being unto themselves. Success requires more than just physical skill in many situations.
Today we see PTSD running wild in many in law enforcement and in the military. Now I don’t know if it can be avoided or not, but the psychology involved in self defense and understanding it might be able to help prevent or prepare someone for an altercation and what happens afterwards.
Many people when attacked are not able to defend themselves. They may have tremendous skill, years of experience and yet they will freeze when the time comes to fight or run.
I have done a lot of research over they years on this subject, and I am by no means an expert. I just know what has worked for me. From this research I am assembling an eBook on my thoughts of all this which is titled “The Psychology of Self Defense.”
